Until Dawn Remastered

Trophy Guide & Roadmap

If you prefer to watch a video instead of reading the guide, feel free to do so. There is a playlist that covers every trophy on my YouTube channel. If you'd like and subscribe or even become a member, it would mean a lot to this channel!

Prologue

Before starting the game you can make the game a lot easier by changing some accessibility settings. There we can enable automatically successful Don't Move events and single input QTEs. We can even select which button we want to use as the single input. This is really helpful, because we want everyone to survive our first playthrough.

The Prologue contains 2 interactables and one totem. Don't hurt the deer right at the beginning to work on Blackwood Country.

I Know What You Did Last Year
Complete 'the Prologue'
Story-related. Pops naturally after playing through the Prologue.

Chapter 1

While playing is Sam we can collect another Totem and our first Mystery Man clue. Apart from that don't hurt the squirrel or any of the birds for Blackwood Country and encourage Matt to watch Emily & Mike to set up Lodge Fever.

Chapter 2

The second chapter is the first one with quite lot collectibles. At the end of this chapter your stats should look like this: 8/36 Totems | 9/32 Mystery Man Clues | 3/10 Interactibles | 6/20 The Twins Clues | 1/27 1952 Clues. Whenever you interact with Josh during this chapter, be nice to him to work on We Need To Talk About Josh.

Lodge Fever
Both Matt and Emily started separate confrontations in the lodge
To get this trophy it's important that Ashley encourages Matt to watch Mike & Emily in the first chapter. We'll then get the chance to Challenge Mike and Defuse two situations afterwards, which pops the trophy.
One Hour Selfie
Take a bad selfie with Jessica
During the second chapter we control Mike at some point. After going down the stairs, Jessica wants him to take a selfie. Just make sure that Mike is not frame when you press trigger.

Chapter 3

There is no trophy directly tied to the third chapter. But we have to work on Blackwood Country again by comforting the deer, while playing as Mike and at the end there is a very important therapy session for We Need To Talk About Josh, where we have to dislike Josh the most. Your collectibles stats after the chapter should look like this: 11/36 Totems | 13/32 Mystery Man Clues | 4/10 Interactibles | 9/20 The Twins Clues | 2/27 1952 Clues.

Chapter 4

Technically there is no trophy in this chapter. However we have to work on the trophy below during it and never again afterwards. Your collectibles stats after the fourth chapter should look like this: 14/36 Totems | 14/32 Mystery Man Clues | 5/10 Interactibles | 9/20 The Twins Clues | 2/27 1952 Clues.

Drag Me Through Hell
Mike saved Jessica from an unknown attacker without failing a quick time event
After Jessica gets kidnapped we must follow her trail and always take the risky routes while not failing any QTE. When Mike arrives in time and Jessica is still able to speak, you're good to go. The trophy will then unlock during Chapter 9.

Chapter 5

We are not allowed to kick the wolf and must give him one of the bones from the box on the opposite side of the entrance door. Your collectibles stats after the fifth chapter should look like this: 18/36 Totems | 17/32 Mystery Man Clues | 6/10 Interactibles | 10/20 The Twins Clues | 13/27 1952 Clues.

Saw That Coming
Mike sawed his fingers off with the broken machete
While playing as Mike in Chapter 5 you'll come across a waving hand that's obviously a trap. Interact with the hand and try to open the trap twice before finally using the machete.
The Psycho Path
Sam or Ashley attacked the Psycho with a weapon
Towards the end of the fifth chapter we control Sam and enter the auditorium. Soon after a chasing seqeunce starts we can choose between running away or throwing a vase. Thro the vase to unlock this trophy.
When a Psycho Calls
Sam escapes from the Psycho
During the chasing sequence from The Psycho Path we must choose the Run option as often as possible. At the end we must hide in the elevator shaft. To do so, pick Hide after Sam falls down.

Chapter 6

At the beginning of the chapter we must stay calm and not hurt the deer for Blackwood Country and They All Live. While controlling Emily on top of the tower we must pick up the flare gun and keep it for Just Breathe later. When the tower collapses we control Matt and must jump to safety instead of saving Emily to keep him alive. At the end of the chapter when we control Chris, don't shoot Ashley.

Your collectibles stats after the sixth chapter should look like this: 21/36 Totems | 25/32 Mystery Man Clues | 8/10 Interactibles | 12/20 The Twins Clues | 13/27 1952 Clues.

Chapter 7

During the later portion of this chapter we must hide Emily while she is chased by the guy with the flamethrower. Don't light the oil on the way. Hiding doesn't make a huge difference story-wise but it allows to pick up a collectible that would otherwise be unreachable. In the final scenes with Chris always choose the nice answers and disarm Mike to reach a good relationship status with Josh which is very important for We Need To Talk About Josh.

Your collectibles stats after the seventh chapter should look like this: 23/36 Totems | 32/32 Mystery Man Clues | 9/10 Interactibles | 18/20 The Twins Clues | 16/27 1952 Clues.

Carnival of Solitude
Shake the Snow Globe
The Snow Globe is the ninth interactable we can collect. To shake it, we must shake our controller. It can be found on a table right after we exit the first room of the chapter while controlling Sam.
You Opened Their Eyes
The group found all the clues from the Mystery Man Clueline
Please refer to the video guide at the start of this guide to find all Mystery Man collectibles. Every single one of them has a timestamp so you don't have to watch all videos entirely.
Our Host
The psycho's identity was revealed
Story-related. Unlocks naturally during Chapter 7.

Chapter 8

To save some time later it is recommended to restart the checkpoint after unlocking the first trophy of this chapter. Apart from that we must keep shooting the Wendigo at all 4 occasions while it's chasing Chris for They All Live. For We Need To Talk About Josh it is pivotal to select "They Hurt Me" and "I'm So Sorry" in the therapy session of this chapter. We Need To Talk About Josh.

Your collectibles stats after the eighth chapter should look like this: 25/36 Totems | 9/10 Interactibles | 18/20 The Twins Clues | 22/27 1952 Clues.

Just Breathe
Emily or Matt used the flare gun to successfully defend themselves against an attacker
Assuming that Emily kept the flare gun in chapter 6, we just need to succeed all QTEs and stay on the conveyor belt to be able to use it. Quickly shoot the Wendigo to pop the trophy. Exit to the main menu right after it popped to save some time with the next trophy.
Talk to eM
Emily slapped Ashley after the truth was revealed
The prerequisite for this trophy is that Emily gets bitten by the Wendigo at the beginning of Chapter 8. If you followed the guide so far, she has the flare gun to avoid the bite. Luckily there is an easy solution for this. Just fail at least 2 QTEs before staying on the conveyor belt, this way Emily won't draw the flare gun at all.

After the sequence with Chris, the group will gather in the basement. Down there don't shoot Emily while controlling Mike and tell the truth as Ashley after she read the book.

Chapter 9

To unlock They All Live at the end of the next chapter, make sure that Chris doesn't stay behind. When you investigate the voice, don't interact with the trapdoor. Drag Me Through Hell unlocks naturally here if Jessica survived Chapter 4.

Your collectibles stats after the ninth chapter should look like this: 32/36 Totems | 10/10 Interactibles | 18/20 The Twins Clues | 27/27 1952 Clues.

The Fateful Descent
The group found all the clues from the 1952 Clueline
Please refer to the video guide at the start of this guide to find all 1952 collectibles. Every single one of them has a timestamp so you don't have to watch all videos entirely.
Patient Sematary
Mike picked up the odd figurine
The odd figurine is a chess piece that can be found in chapter 9 shortly after blowing up a barrel as Mike. This is also the tenth and final interactable for It's Shining.
It's Shining
Find all the new interactables across Blackwood Mountain
Please refer to the video guide at the start of this guide to find all Interactables. Every single one of them has a timestamp so you don't have to watch all videos entirely.
The Skillful Wolf Man
Mike kept the wolf alive throughout the Sanatorium
Given that you didn't kick the wolf and fed it a bone during Chapter 5, you'll be in a position to unlock this trophy during Chapter 9. To keep Wolfie alive we must be successful in all QTEs while fighting off the Wendigos, blow up the walkway instead of shooting the two chasing Wendigos and choose to barricade the door during the second chase. This trophy is also the last puzzle piece for Blackwood Country, but it only pops after Chapter 10.
An American Survivor in Canada
Mike successfully escapes the Sanatorium in Chapter 9
Shortly after Wolfie is safe, Mike has to fight off two Wendigos. But instead of shooting them, we must shoot one of the barrels to blow up the Sanatorium. Doing so unlocks this trophy. Shooting the Wendigos until Sam rescues Mike doesn't pop the trophy.

Chapter 10

In the final chapter of the game we need to find two more twin clues and four totems to unlock the remaining collectible-related trophies.

The Tale of The Two Sisters
The group found all the clues from the Twins Clueline
Please refer to the video guide at the start of this guide to find all Twins Clues. Every single one of them has a timestamp so you don't have to watch all videos entirely.
An Omen?
The group found all 36 totems on the mountain
Please refer to the video guide at the start of this guide to find all Totems. Every single one of them has a timestamp so you don't have to watch all videos entirely.

Chapter 10
  • As Sam, we ensure to pick up The Twins Clue 20 – Scrawled Journal.
  • As Matt, we hide with Jessica, avoid failing the Don’t Move Event, and then hide again.

The Cabin in the Blackwoods
Complete a full playthrough of Until Dawn
Story-related. Unlocks naturally after we finished the story for the first time.
We Need To Talk About Josh
Achieved the best ending for Josh
There are multiple ways to achieve this, either by giving certain answers during the therapy session or by always acting friendly and respectful whenever we interact with Josh. Here are the most important parts from my experience:

Chapter 4
  • At the saw trap, we choose to save Josh instead of Ashley. This decision does not lead to her death at this point, so there is no risk.
Chapter 7
  • When guiding Josh to the shed with Mike and Chris, we consistently select the kind dialogue options when speaking to Josh and disarm Mike in the shed.
Chapter 10
  • We must pick up The Twins Clue 20 – Scrawled Journal.
  • Ensure that every character survives until the end of the game.
Therapy Sessions with Dr. Hill
  • There are multiple therapy sessions throughout the game at the end of each chapter. The first two sessions don't seem to make a difference. From the third on we make the following choices for each session:
  • Session 3:
    • “Yes, I do”
    • “I value Loyalty”
    • “I value Loyalty”
  • Session 4:
    • I prefer Sam
    • I prefer Matt
    • I prefer Chris
    • I prefer Jessica
    • I prefer Emily
    • I prefer Ashley
    • I dislike Josh
  • Session 5:
    • “No, it’s not”
    • “What do you want?”
    • “You’re freaking me out”
    • “You don’t exist”
  • Session 8:
    • “They hurt me.”
    • “I’m so sorry”

2nd Playthrough

Finishing the story for the first time gives us access to chapter select. That allows us to take care of the following trophies without having to do a complete playthrough again.

Fatal Destination
Despite Dr. Hill's warning, you tried changing the past
We start our second playthrough by selecting the Prologue. The trophy pops naturally as soon as we get back to the first therapy session.
Nightmare on Ash Street
Ashley hesitated and failed to let Chris inside in time
To start working on this trophy we can use chapter select to begin our playthrough from Chapter 6. From there play all the way to the end of the chapter as you like. The only important thing is that Chris "shoots" Ashley to close out the chapter. This disturbs Ashley so badly that she won't open the door for Chris when successfully escaped the Wendigo in Chapter 8, thus unlocking this trophy.
You Let The Wrong One In!
Ashley or Chris opened the trap door
In Chapter 9 Ashley can investigate a voice or rejoin the group. For this trophy we want to investigate the voice and this time interact with the trapdoor.
Only Others Left Alive
Matt and Jessica were the only ones to survive until dawn
Chapter 8
  • Emily can die here in multiple ways. The fastest method is by not pulling the lever in the elevator.
  • Chris dies due to Nightmare on Ash Street.
Chapter 9
  • Ashley dies due to You Let The Wrong One In!.
Chapter 10
  • Josh dies, when we don't pick up The Twins Clue 20 – Scrawled Journal.
  • We keep Matt and Jessica alive like we did for They All Live.
  • Sam and Mike die by failing two Don't Move events with Sam inside the cabin.

3rd Playthrough

Third playthrough sounds way more tedious than it actually is. We can just reload Chapter 10 via "Episodes" and finish the job :)

This Is THE End
Nobody survived until dawn
If you followed this guide to this point, you'll probably know what to do. If not, please refer to Only Others Left Alive. The only difference to the referred trophy is the outcome for Matt and Jessica. When the first choice appears, where we hid during the first two playthroughs, we don't make a choice and let the timer run out. This will seal their fate. The trophy then unlocks after failing the Don't Move events with Sam again.
