MLB® The Show™ 24

Trophy Guide & Roadmap

If you prefer to watch a video instead of reading the guide, feel free to do so. There is a video for all trophies on my YouTube channel. It would mean a lot to this channel, if you like or even subscribe!

Step 1 - Adjusting players and sliders

To make things a lot easier it is highly recommended to adjust players and sliders. In MLB The Show 24, we can customize both the difficulty and sliders to suit our preferences. Start by going into the settings, selecting the Casual playstyle and setting both batting and pitching difficulty to Beginner. Be sure to turn off dynamic difficulty as well. Next, adjust the sliders by maximizing most human sliders and minimizing most CPU sliders. After that, we can edit the roster of our favorite team. We can enhance player attributes to make them faster and improve their hitting. Choose your preferred team and max out the stats for the starting nine batters. It only takes about a minute to edit each player.

Step 2 - Play a 9-inning game at a large classic stadium

Our main focus during this step is on Maddux. While working on it we can go for a lot of the following pitching and batting trophies. But don't worry if you don't get them all during this game. They are all doable in 3-inning games as well.

Ambush!
Get a hit with the first pitch of the game.
This is probably your first trophy if you play your first game as the away team. Just hit the first pitch in a game to unlock the trophy.
Stay in School
Watch a STATCAST™ presentation.
This graphic can appear for a hit, home run, stolen base, or strikeout, but it's most commonly displayed when you hit a home run. To see it, avoid skipping the replay, and the STATCAST presentation will typically show up.
Setting the Tone
Strike out the first batter of the game.
This trophy seems to be a little buggy if we start as a batter. If it doesn't work out, make sure to start a game as the home team and you should be pitching first. Strike out the very first batter and the trophy is yours. This can be combined with Kitchen Sink.
Kitchen Sink
Strike a batter out by throwing at least 4 different pitches during the same at-bat.
If you do this against the very first batter you will unlock Setting The Tone as well. Your starting pitcher typically has 4 or 5 pitch types. Be sure to throw at least one pitch well outside the strike zone for a Ball to avoid accidentally striking out the batter with just three pitches.
Pure Speed
Have a runner score from first without the baseball leaving the field of play.
Use regular swings by pressing to encourage hits that stay in the park. With a runner on first, aim to hit the ball using . If the ball stays in play and lands between outfielders and the wall, you can advance all runners by holding down , allowing the runner on first to reach home. With adjusted sliders, most players should be able to score from first on a so-called gap hit. The gap between the wall and the outfielders is much bigger in some classic stadiums which gives you more time tom complete the run.
Derby Level Damage
Hit a home run over 460 ft.
This trophy unlocks probably while playing naturally. Press to perform a power swing to increase the chance of hitting a long home run. It seems like the ball travels further in bigger stadiums.
Save Some for Tomorrow
Win a game by 24 or more runs.
With adjusted sliders and difficulty this should almost occur automatically during the 9-inning game for Maddux. But it also achieveable in shorter games. If your lead is large enough you can just until the pitcher strikes you out or bunt the ball by pressing and keep running until your batter is out to speed up the innings.
Good Grelief
With the bases loaded and nobody out, strike out three in a row without a run scoring to end the inning.
Intentionally load the bases by holding and pressing . Once the bases are loaded, vary your pitch types and aim at the weak zones to strike out three consecutive batters.
Chin Up Champ
As a pitcher, give up a hit on the first at-bat of an inning and then strike out the next batter.
Throw strikes down the middle to the first batter and allow them to get a hit. For the next batter, pitch towards his weak zones and aim to strike him out.
Speed or Luck or Both?
Hit a triple.
Hit the ball with a regular swing . If the ball is going to land between the outfielders near the wall, hold down until your player reaches the third base. This works best at classic stadiums with deep outfields, those are giving you more chances to advance runners.
Celebrity Shot
Drive in a run with a pinch hitter.
While batting, pause the game and navigate to the Manager menu to bring in a pinch hitter. It works best if you do this with runners on base to improve the chances of driving in a run, though you can also achieve it with a solo home run. Do not use the Quick Manage menu because the trophy won't pop and this will void a lot of trophies (f.e. Maddux) for this game as well.
Open the Tool Box
Use two bench players in a single game.
This can be combined with Celebrity Shot. Just substitute a second player the same way you did before and the trophy should unlock.
Trading Places
With only a runner on second base, hit an RBI double.
You don't need to hit two doubles in a row to achieve this. Start by getting a runner on second base, either by hitting a double or reaching first base and then stealing second. With a runner on second, use a regular swing to hit a double. This will allow the runner on second to score, while you end up on second base, taking the spot where your first baserunner started. Hold down to make sure both runners advance two bases.
40/40 Watch?
Hit a home run and steal a base with the same player in one game.
Home runs can be hit with or . When the player that hit a home run is back on the field as a batter, you want to focus on getting to first base with a single. After that your next batter enters the field. Now hold the left stick towards your runner on first base and press as soon as the pitcher goes into his throwing motion to steal the base. You don't need to hit the ball.
Red Hot Baserunning
In a single inning steal second, third, and score with the same player.
This trophy works basically like 40/40 Watch? without the home run part. Just steal two bases with the described method and the trophy is yours.
The Best Offense is No Offense
Score a run without getting a hit (have a run score off a walk, error, or sac fly).
It is recommended to get one of your runners to third base before attempting this. With him in position, bunt the ball with and immediately advance the runner on third base so he can score a point. If this is done successfully the trophy pops right away, even if you get a strikeout against you.
Maddux
Using a single pitcher, win a complete game in under 100 pitches in a full 9-inning game.
You can try to go for double plays or outs by catching hits if you are afraid of having too many pitches. But just striking out every batter is ok, too.

Step 3 - Play 23 3-inning games

We need to play 24 games with at least 3 innings for Living On The Field. During all those games it is recommended to go for the remaining trophies. Some of them require a decent amount of luck but apart from Swan Dive Defense there is nothing too crazy.

Gotta Be Quicker Than That
Throw out a runner going for extra bases.
Normally this would require a lot of luck. However there is a very easy way to get this done. When batting, try to hit a single and let the runner advance to second base. As soon as the runner runs past first base and is halfway to second base, pause the game and switch teams. Now, playing as the fielding team, you should automatically throw out the baserunner to complete the play and unlock the trophy.
Empty the Tank
Get a strikeout with no Energy remaining.
If you reduce your starting pitcher's stamina to 0 and adjust your sliders so that your pitcher will run out of energy by the 2nd or 3rd inning, you should get a Manager Tip prompt. Once his energy is depleted, aim to strike out a batter. As with any strikeout, aim at the weakzones to make things easier.
Walk Off, Do Your Dance
Win the game on a walk-off home run.
Play as the home team so that you pitch first and bat last. Keep the game tied in terms of scoring. When it's your turn to bat in the bottom of the final inning, hit a home run to end the game with a walk-off victory.
If You Stare, it Might Stay Fair
Hit a ball that can leave the field on either side of the foul pole.
It is doesn't unlock naturally during one of the games or you want to get rid of it as early as possible, turn on directional hitting in the settings and aim towards the left or right foul poles.
A Double Play Would Be Nice Here
Get a double play to end the inning.
This is one of the more luck-based trophies. With one out, intentionally walk batters to load the bases. To do this, hold , press , and then confirm your decision by pressing . Once at least two bases are loaded, throw pitches right down the middle to encourage a ground ball, allowing you to make a double play and get two outs in one sequence. Collect the ball throw it to 2nd base by pressing and from there to 1st base by pressing .
Supposed to be My Day Off
Have your closer get a one-out save.
To get this we must play as the away team. As such we need to keep the game close for example leading by just 1 score. In the last inning when you're pitching make sure to strike out the first two batters like you would normally do. If they didn't get a hit, load one base so that your opponent can win the game by hitting a home run. With all that in place, throw two strikes so that the next strike would end the game. Now enter the Manager menu (not Quick Manage) and replace your pitcher with a closing pitcher (CP). With him on the field pitch the final strike and the trophy should pop right away.
Living On the Field
Play and finish 24 games of at least 3 innings within any mode.
To earn Maddux, you'll need to play one full 9-inning game. With that trophy in the bag you can start playing 3-inning games. To speed things up, use Player Lock with a player that bats late in the game so you only need to bat once or twice and control a defender for a few outs. These 3-inning games with Player Lock are also a great opportunity to work on Swan Dive Defense.
Swan Dive Defense
Make a diving catch for an out.
To increase your chances to get this trophy, reset your sliders so that the AI is able to perform hits regularly again. With that done, start a game with the Boomers at The Polo Grounds, make Ken Griffey Jr. batter number nine and use Player Lock on him. As soon as you are on the batting position instead of the outfield, restart the game to save some time. When the ball travels towards your position you'll often see a white and yellow line on the ground. Adjust your angle so that the player dives lengthwise onto this very line. If you time the catch correctly with or the player should go into the motion for a diving catch. The slight angle adjustment is necessary because running vertically towards the line often results in a slide instead of a dive.
