Trophy Guide & Roadmap

Chapter 1 - Desert Dream

Our goal is reaching a positive ending and to get there we must make certain decisions. However that us going to void some of the trophies. Those ones can later be done through "Explore Story", either after completing the story once or right the end of every chapter. It's ultimately up to you, when you take care of them. This guide is designed to deal with all trophies of a single chapter before continuing the story.

Before starting it is recommended to change some of the Accessibility settings like activating the extended QTE timer, setting the QTE types to Single Input and disabling the Choice Timer.

Code Breaker
Used the safe code to open Dante's safe
Checkpoint Becky: You'll eventually end up in the office of the Sheriff's house. Search the bookcase twice and enter the code 5926.
Smooth Criminal
Got the money without alerting Dante
Do not steal the money when you're searching the living room.

Checkpoint Becky:
  1. Yank Help Button + Complete QTEs
  2. Search the bookcase twice.
  3. Input the code "5926" to open it.
  4. Downstairs complete all QTEs.
Cop Out
Big Sam killed by Tyler at the Desert Dream
Checkpoint: Holts stormed the motel
When you get asked about Vince's family, answer with "Just my dad".

Checkpoint: Big Sam Arrived
  1. Leave the evidence on the ground.
  2. To Sam - "Just my dad."
  3. To Michelle - "Let's get out of here."

Chapter 2 - Economics 101

What's Your Emergency?
Escaped your bindings and called Dante for help
At the beginning of the chapter Joyce tells you about a spare phone. Shortly after Crack a Joke or Calmly Defy the Holts. Once you are in the back office, complete the QTEs.
Paging Dr Walker
Successfully removed the bullet for Michelle
Checkpoint: Escaped the Office
  1. Run For the Doors after coming back downstairs to get Michelle injured.
  2. Complete the QTEs.
What's Done is Done
Forgave Michelle for her affair with Bruce
Checkpoint: Relaxed On Balcony
  1. "No, there's more to this" to find out more about the affair.
  2. Only pick calm options or save the situation with "Sit and talk".
  3. Forgive.
Lifesaver
Michelle reached the hospital for treatment
Shortly after Paging Dr Walker you can chose which person you want to let go, send Michelle.
Second Chance
Vince and Michelle saved their marriage
After What's Done is Done and Lifesaver, Michelle will talk about the future of their marriage before getting sent to the hospital. Assure her that you're going to be fine.
Dodged A Bullet
Warned Dale about the sniper on the water tower
Warn Dale when you notice a laser pointer hovering over his head, outside of the motel.
Caught in a Trap
Completed Chapter 2
Unlocks naturally after the conclusion of Chapter 2.
Keeping The Faith
Trusted Michelle about her relationship with Bruce
Explore Mode - Relaxed On Balcony
Instead of talking about Michelle's affair, say "Okay, I'm sorry."
Unforgiveable
Didn't forgive Michelle for her affair with Bruce
Explore Mode - Relaxed On Balcony
  1. "No, there's more to this" to find out more about the affair.

Chapter 3 - Small Seconds

Better the Devil You Know
Told the Holts about Dante's pager
Checkpoint: The Long Night Continues
When Sharon arrives you'll get the choice whether to reveal or hide the pager. Reveal it.
Resurrection
Helped the stranger to rise from the grave
Checkpoint: Drove Bear Into Woods
When Bear asks you to bury the stranger, Refuse and complete all QTEs.
Take Me Instead
Vince convinced the Holts to take him as their hostage
Checkpoint: Attacked by Dante
  1. Complete the QTEs
  2. Hide In Closet
  3. Complete the QTEs
  4. Lower the gun
  5. "I can help you!".
New Dawn

Unlocks naturally after the conclusion of Chapter 3.

When Sharon arrives you'll get the choice whether to reveal or hide the pager. Keep it a secret.
Buried Alive
Jay buried the stranger alive
Explore Mode - Drove Bear Into Woods
When Bear asks you to bury the stranger, Obey and finish the job.
She's Coming with Us
Zoe was taken hostage by the Holts
Explore Mode - Attacked by Dante
Fail all of the QTEs so that Vince is killed by Dante. The Holts will then automatically take Zoe.

Chapter 4 - Shimá

Invincible
Vince survived the Desert Dream
Assuming Vince survived at the end of Chapter 3, we just need to open the door as Jay while Tyler and Sharon fight outside of the car.
Cabin? What Cabin?
Ash didn't reveal the cabin's existence to Dante
Checkpoint: Hid In The Cabin
When Ash meets Dante, keep the cabin a secret. This is also important for Brothers in Arms.
Brothers in Arms
Stopped Tyler falling from the tree
Checkpoint: Chased Into Woods By Tyler
For this scenario to occur at all, Ash must keep the cabin a secret.
  1. Complete the QTEs to hide
  2. Stay Silent
  3. Complete the QTEs to climb the tree
  4. Save Tyler.
Into The Woods
Completed Chapter 4
Unlocks naturally after the conclusion of Chapter 4.
Trail of Breadcrumbs
Ash revealed the cabin's existence to Dante
Explore Mode - Hid In The Cabin
Create a new Save instead of just Exploring, because the decision leading to this trophy is needed to unlock the checkpoint for the next two trophies. When Ash meets Dante, reveal the cabin.
Once a Holt
Refused to abandon your family at the cabin shootout
Explore Mode - Cops Ambushed Cabin (only available when Ash revealed the cabin)
At some point Jay must decide whether he wants to escape or help his family. Pick the latter.
Hands in the Air
Jay surrendered to the cops
Right after Once a Holt, choose to surrender instead of escaping through the crawlspace.
No Going Back
Jay killed the cop who tried to arrest him
Explore Mode - Cops Ambushed Cabin (only available when Ash revealed the cabin)
To get this, Jay must abandon his family when they are surrounded. Complete the QTEs and shoot the officer.

Chapter 5 - Paradise Found

Bullseye
Won the trucker's darts challenge
At the beginning of the chapter Jay enters a bar, given he didn't get arrested in the cabin. The scene will automatically lead to a match of darts. Select the center of the board with all three darts to win the game.
Plead the 5th
Refused to confess to Bradley
Checkpoint: Desert Dream Aftermath
  1. Get arrested by failing all QTEs instead of successfully escaping the bar.
  2. Don't Answer.
  3. Don't Answer.
  4. "Didn't do it."
  5. "I swear I'm innocent!"
  6. "Didn't do anything!"
Cuba Libre
Paul escaped to Cuba with Sharon
Checkpoint: Dante Came Calling
None of Paul's choices really matter except the final one. Help Sharon and complete all QTEs.
Heart to Heart
Jay and Vanessa fell in love
Checkpoint: Arrived at The Party
Do not hit Todd and do not teach him a lesson either.

Checkpoint: Ditched Party With Vanessa
Kiss Vanessa back when Jay gets the chance to do it.
Bonnie and Clyde
Vanessa decides to go to Canada with Jay
After Heart to Heart, select "I do." to take Vanessa with you.
Runaways
Completed Chapter 5
Unlocks naturally after the conclusion of Chapter 5.
Jailbird
Sharon was captured by Dante
Explore Mode - Dante Came Calling
None of Paul's choices really matter except the final one. Help Dante and complete all QTEs.

Chapter 6 - Cascade

Into the Wild
Escaped the FBI and made it to Canada
Wait for the police officer until he is done checking Jay's license plate. After that, Vanessa and Jay will reach the canyon, where we can unlock this trophy. Complete the QTEs to escape Mr. Dorland and the FBI. Whether you jump with or without Vanessa doesn't matter for the trophy.
Breaking Bread
Zoe shared a meal with Jay
After Into the Wild, Zoe visits Jay in Canada and talk with him for a while. When they start talking about the Desert Dream situation, select "I don't hate you." and "No, you're not."
Past, Tense
Completed Chapter 6
Unlocks naturally after the conclusion of Chapter 6.
End of the Road?
Completed chapters 4-6 of As Dusk Falls
Unlocks naturally after the conclusion of Chapter 6.
Most Wanted
Zoe reported Jay's wherabouts to the authorities
Explore Mode - Visited Jay in Canada
Choose "Your family ruined my life!", so that Zoe grabs her phone and we can choose to turn him in.
Almost Made It
Got arrested at the border
Explore Mode - Entered The National Park
Instead of running away from Mr. Dorland, fail all QTEs to get arrested.
Enough is Enough
Zoe didn't stay to witness Jay's execution
After Almost Made It, select "No More Trauma" when Jay asks Zoe to stay for the upcoming execution.
Stay of Execution
Jay's execution was called off at the last second
The main goal for this is that Jay never hurt anybody or confessed anything while talking to Bradley. It should pop automatically if you previously earned Invincible, Plead the 5th, Brothers in Arms, Heart to Heart and Almost Made It all in the same playthrough. The trophy should then pop shortly after Enough is Enough.

Alternative Ending

To get to the alternative ending we must create a new save or overwrite our progress, starting from checkpoint Ditched Party With Vanessa in Chapter 5.

You're On Your Own
Jay and Vanessa went their separate ways at the campground
Overwrite - Ditched Party With Vanessa
When Vanessa talks about going to Canada with Jay, say "No, it's too dangerous."
Free Bird
Forest ranger let Jay escape to Canada
Similar to Stay of Execution it is recommended that Jay hasn't hurt anyone throughout the entire story. Another important prerequisite is that Jay ditched Vanessa for You're On Your Own and that he waits once again for the cop at the road block to finish his license plate analysis. This leads to Jay reaching the border alone, where he encounters a park ranger. He will talk to Jay for a while. Select "Please let me go" when it appears and then surrender.
